Our client, an ambitious and fast-scaling consumer litigation business, is seeking to appoint a Senior Consumer Litigation Solicitor to join its expanding legal team in Manchester. This is a senior legal appointment for a qualified solicitor with substantial litigation experience, sound judgement and the confidence to operate in one of the most significant consumer claims environments currently active in the UK. This is not a conventional private practice role. The business operates at serious scale, managing a substantial volume of active consumer claims within a structured, technology-enabled and process-driven legal environment. Its work sits at the forefront of financial mis-selling and consumer redress, with matters influenced by significant recent legal precedent and a clear focus on delivering fair outcomes for clients.

The successful candidate will join a modern legal delivery platform built around litigation strength, process discipline, regulatory control, client outcomes and commercial execution.

The Opportunity

As a Grade A Solicitor, you will bring the technical maturity, professional judgement and commercial awareness expected of a lawyer with more than 8 years’ post-qualified experience. You will not simply manage files. You will help shape the quality, consistency and legal robustness of a high-volume consumer litigation operation. Working closely with senior legal leadership, you will take ownership of complex case progression, legal risk, procedural quality and the standards required within a regulated legal environment. This role requires someone who can combine strong litigation capability with operational discipline. You must be able to make good legal decisions at pace, maintain control across significant volumes of work and understand the commercial consequences of legal execution at scale. In a business managing claims at this level, judgement matters. Strong legal leadership protects clients, improves outcomes, strengthens compliance and reduces risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and supervising consumer litigation matters within structured legal frameworks
  • Providing senior legal input on case strategy, risk, documentation and procedural direction
  • Reviewing complex or escalated matters and ensuring appropriate legal decisions are made
  • Supporting group litigation activity in alignment with partners and senior legal leadership
  • Maintaining high standards of SRA compliance, client care and professional conduct
  • Ensuring claims are progressed accurately, efficiently and within agreed legal processes
  • Supporting junior solicitors, paralegals and wider legal teams where required
  • Identifying litigation risks, process weaknesses or quality issues and escalating appropriately
  • Contributing to the development of legal workflows, case handling protocols and quality standards

The Candidate

You will be a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate and, ideally, 8 years PQE or equivalent Grade A experience. You are likely to have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Consumer litigation
  • Financial services disputes
  • Civil litigation
  • Group litigation
  • Professional negligence
  • Mis-selling claims
  • High-volume claimant litigation
  • Regulated legal services

Experience in car finance claims or financial mis-selling would be highly relevant, although it is not the only route into this role. More important is the ability to operate with senior judgement, technical confidence and consistency in a high-volume legal environment. The successful candidate will bring strong drafting, case analysis and legal review capability, excellent understanding of SRA obligations, and the ability to manage complexity without losing pace, accuracy or control. You will be calm under pressure, commercially aware, structured, accountable and confident enough to challenge risk where required. This role will suit a senior solicitor who takes ownership, protects standards and understands that execution quality directly affects client outcomes and business performance.

Working Environment

The role is based in modern offices in Spinningfields, Manchester, placing the successful candidate in one of the city’s leading commercial districts. You will join a progressive, fast-scaling legal business with a clear focus on consumer advocacy, legal process improvement and high-quality litigation delivery. This is a senior role inside a business handling consumer claims at substantial national scale. The right appointment will directly influence litigation quality, compliance, case progression, client outcomes and the continued development of a modern consumer litigation platform. This is not a role for someone who wants a quiet desk and a narrow caseload. It is a role for a serious litigation solicitor who understands that legal judgement, commercial discipline and execution quality are what make large-scale consumer litigation work.
