We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a leading role within our Design Team, taking technical ownership of mechanical engineering solutions across a wide range of water and wastewater treatment projects. In this role, you will guide the full design process from concept through to completion, ensuring every mechanical system meets regulatory, safety, and client requirements while maintaining high standards of efficiency and sustainability.
You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated designs, oversee technical reviews and risk assessments, and provide expert support during procurement, installation, and commissioning. Acting as a mentor to junior engineers, you will help shape the future capability of the team while championing innovation, quality, and best practice across the business.
Please note that this role requires you to be in the office or on site at least 3 times a week.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for a technically strong, forward-thinking engineer who can lead complex mechanical design packages, support others, and confidently represent the discipline to clients and stakeholders.
- 7–10 years' mechanical design engineering experience, ideally in the water or wastewater sector.
- Proven background delivering mechanical designs for treatment projects with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment used in water treatment (pumps, piping systems, valves, blowers, filtration systems).
- Solid knowledge of relevant mechanical design standards, HSE requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Experience supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation of mechanical systems.

- Strong leadership and mentoring ability, with experience guiding engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering efficient, cost-effective solutions.
- Highly organised, able to prioritise multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, confident explaining technical concepts clearly.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across disciplines.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working toward it.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
