Brown & Holmes is looking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller / Programmer to join its growing engineering team. This role will involve working on a large‑capacity Lagun 5‑axis machining centre with a 4‑metre bed, producing complex, high‑quality components for demanding engineering sectors.
The role will include:
- Programming, setting and operating a 5‑axis Lagun machining centre
- Working with Heidenhain controls
- Machining large, complex and high‑value components
- Producing one‑off and low‑volume precision‑engineered parts
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
- Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and machining strategies
- Carrying out in‑process inspection and maintaining high quality standards
- Working closely with engineering and production colleagues to improve machining processes and reduce cycle times
- Working to tight deadlines
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong experience programming, setting and operating 5‑axis CNC milling machines
- Good working knowledge of Heidenhain controls
- Experience operating Lagun machinery, or similar large‑capacity machining centres
- The ability to work confidently and independently on complex jobs
- A strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and inspection methods
- A practical, quality‑focused approach to problem‑solving
