Overview: Life Facilities Team manages and maintains the buildings and physical environment within which Life and its associated elements operate. It generates income from renting space to tenants within the Centre and from the operation of the Times Square Multi-storey car park, which has 635 spaces.
Responsibilities: We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our busy in-house facilities team. Working to the Mechanical and Electrical Manager, you will ensure building systems across the portfolio are kept fully operational and well maintained to support delivery of key activities on site, including research undertaken by our principal tenants, Newcastle University and the NHS. Duties include carrying out planned works and reactive repairs, which may involve out of hours working. The post holder will work closely with a team of external contractors and monitor compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), policies and procedures.
Qualifications: We are seeking someone with proven experience in mechanical and electrical services, who has completed a recognised NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation, building management systems (BMS), competent IT skills and be a good communicator. A team player, well-organised and with a flexible, self-motivated approach is essential.
