We are expanding our Finance team in London to continue supporting our growing insurance businesses in the most effective way. The Financial Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong balance sheet control, and compliance within a regulated insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting & Month-End Close: Perform the month-end close process, including preparation, review, and posting of General Ledger (GL) journal entries, including transfer of balance from RiskServe to Workday (General Ledger). Ensure all month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and adjustments) are accurate, complete, and posted within close deadlines. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on a timely basis. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items promptly.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Produce timely and accurate profit and loss (P&L) analysis, explaining variances against prior periods and budgets. Analyse movements in selected balance sheet accounts and provide clear commentary. Support management reporting with accurate financial data and insights.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly regulatory returns, ensuring compliance with insurance and statutory reporting requirements (FCA RMAR and Baseline resilience survey, ONS Reports, VAT). Support adherence to internal accounting policies and external regulatory standards.
  • Audit & Controls: Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and explanations as required. Assist in maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring audit points are addressed efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Management & Ad Hoc Work: Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, including auditors and advisors. Support ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required across the business.
  • Process Improvement: Actively contribute to strengthening the Finance function including continually identifying ways to improve processes, controls, reporting, and analysis, particularly within the month-end close and GL processes.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Insurance experience is required to be considered for this role
  • Prior experience in financial accounting
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, journal processing, and month-end close.
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and excel.
