What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a highly organised and detail‑driven Legal Cashier to support the smooth running of our finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with legal accounting experience who thrives in a regulated environment and takes pride in accuracy, compliance, and high-quality financial administration. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all financial transactions comply with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) requirements. You'll be a trusted member of the finance team, helping maintain the integrity of our client and office accounts and contributing to the overall financial health of the business.
Some of the things you’ll get up to:
- Reconciling bank accounts regularly and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Processing payments and receipts for client and office accounts in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR).
- Assisting with the preparation of client bills and managing disbursements.
- Raising invoices for client and office accounts and ensuring payments are allocated correctly.
- Managing incoming and outgoing payments and ensuring timely processing.
- Supporting internal and external audits by providing accurate financial documentation.
- Keeping financial processes up to date with the latest SRA and SAR regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate client transaction records and ensuring compliance standards are met.
- Preparing financial reports for the finance team, management, and auditors.
- Offering general administrative support and assisting with ad‑hoc finance tasks as needed.
We’d like you to have:
- Experience as a Legal Cashier or similar role within a law firm.
- A solid understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and broader SRA regulations.
- Experience with SRA‑compliant financial systems, and ideally LEAP or Xero (desirable but not essential).
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Clear and confident communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external auditors.
- A relevant finance qualification (e.g., AAT, CIMA) — desirable but not essential.
