This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Commercial Insurance professional to join an ambitious and fast-growing business, leading a diligent & hard-working team and helping to continue and further improve the high standards of work & service to our clients.
The Commercial Team Manager leads the East Grinstead office, overseeing client delivery, team performance and income growth. This role combines people leadership, operational management, and technical insurance expertise to ensure the office consistently meets targets while providing exceptional service to clients.
Purpose of the Role:
- Drive revenue growth and client retention in the East Grinstead Commercial team.
- Provide clear, accountable leadership to ensure a motivated, high-performing team.
- Build and maintain strong market relationships with insurers and underwriters to secure competitive terms for clients.
- Safeguard operational efficiency and compliance with company standards, ensuring the East Grinstead office contributes positively to the wider Brown & Brown UK business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the commercial team, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback and appraisals.
- Manage workflow allocation, holiday cover, sickness absence and overall resourcing to maintain service standards.
- Train and develop staff to build capability and succession.
- Client Service & Retention
- Oversee delivery of a high-quality broking and advisory service, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all client documentation.
- Provide technical insurance guidance and risk management advice where required.
- Support clients with claims and ensure complaints are handled in line with company procedures.
- Commercial Performance
- Contribute to the achievement of sales forecasts, renewal income and budget targets.
- Proactively identify and convert new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Negotiate effectively with underwriters to secure favourable outcomes for clients and the business.
- Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure all work adheres to company procedures, compliance requirements and professional standards.
- Maintain effective communication within the team, across offices and with the wider leadership group.
- Support credit control activities and ensure financial processes are adhered to.
