At Brown Brothers Harriman, we are looking for the type of person who speaks their mind, truly listens, and steps outside their role to add value wherever possible. This client‑facing role is based in London and reports to the head of Global Tax Practice in Boston. It is part of Global Tax Services, which provides tailored tax expertise and solutions for asset managers and banks across close to 100 markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop solutions that align with client needs while addressing complex regulatory environments.
- Monitor and manage the implementation of tax changes and assess their impact on product and service offerings to the custody business and clients.
- Manage tax information within BBH’s platform.
- Work with business areas, clients and third parties to communicate changes and implement new regulatory changes; lead EU and OECD initiatives including CRS 2.0 and the FASTER Act.
- Actively engage with industry associations.
- Collaborate with Operations Tax teams to assess the impact of market developments on the Custody Tax offering.
- Draft market updates, policies, tax product materials and respond to specific internal and external client inquiries within established timeframes.
- Research and publish risk items pertaining to specific treaty and/or legislation issues for internal tax groups.
- Perform technical analysis to support product management responsibilities.
- Manage engagements with vendors, accounting firms and law firms to support tax initiatives.
- Provide client services: respond to external client tax inquiries, ensure client deliverables and expectations are met timely and accurately, manage client communication and publication of tax‑related announcements.
- Meet with clients monthly to discuss implications of tax developments and represent Global Tax Services in client pitches and presentations.
- Work with outside tax advisors on complex tax matters, provide training on tax regulations, maintain subject‑matter expertise, and conduct presentations in external industry forums.
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree; JD, LL.M, MST, EA or CPA highly desired.
- Minimum eight years of related experience.
- Extensive technical and operational knowledge of tax regulations, processes and relationships with tax experts.
- In‑depth understanding of bank, fund and securities structures and broad knowledge of business areas throughout the organization.
- Demonstrated presentation and marketing skills.
- Strong leadership and direction skills.
- Knowledge of asset servicing or financial services industry.
