Salary: £55,000 per annum

Minimum Experience: 5 years' Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)

Reports to Principal Solicitor

Purpose of the Role

To manage a private client caseload including wills, probate, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney and Court of Protection matters, delivering practical legal advice and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on wills, estate planning and succession matters.
  • Prepare wills, trusts and lasting powers of attorney.
  • Administer estates from instruction through to completion.
  • Advise on inheritance tax and estate planning.
  • Prepare probate applications and deal with estate administration.
  • Advise on Court of Protection and deputyship matters where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Participate in networking, marketing and business development activities.
  • Supervise and mentor paralegals, trainee solicitors (where applicable), volunteers and work experience students as required.
  • Delegate work appropriately and oversee the quality and timely completion of delegated tasks.
  • Assist with the training and development of junior members of the team.
  • Meet agreed billing, file management and performance targets.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Principal Solicitor.
  • Support and conduct file reviews as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE.
  • Strong experience in private client work.
  • Excellent drafting and client care skills.
  • Ability to manage files independently.
  • Demonstrable ability to supervise and support junior staff, including paralegals, volunteers and work experience students.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • STEP qualification desirable but not essential.
