Head of Group Assurance (Europe)

As part of our ongoing journey of growth and building on our approach as A Forever Company, we’re supporting the team with the appointment of the Head of Group Assurance (Europe) to support and grow our wider Risk & Compliance team.
You’ll be working with some fantastic Teammates at all levels to make sure we’re ticking all the right boxes and our teams are working as compliantly and efficiently as possible.
You’ll lead and manage the Group Assurance function, developing the European group assurance strategy and designing and maintaining an effective second line assurance framework for Brown & Brown in Europe, commensurate with the expectations of the relevant regulatory authorities in the territories in which we operate.
As a senior member of the European Risk & Compliance leadership team, you will contribute significantly to the Risk & Compliance team and the Risk & Compliance culture across Brown & Brown.
The day to day:
- Liaise with and build strong working relationships with senior teammates across BBE.
- Develop, gain agreement to and maintain the BBE group assurance strategy.
- Liaise with and build strong working relationships with teammates in the office of the Brown & Brown Inc Chief Audit Officer, to ensure alignment as appropriate on process and approach.
- Develop, implement and maintain a robust and proportionate second line assurance framework, across BBE, that assesses compliance with group minimum standards and the key controls established to comply with these minimum standards and relevant regulatory requirements, including:
- A documented group assurance charter, including associated service levels;
- A rating mechanism for review findings and reports;
- A standard for frequency of visits and re-visits and or re-testing.
- Develop and gain agreement to a BBE annual group assurance plan, which is based on a risk assessment and incorporates reviews of trading entities/locations and key regulatory themes.
- Assist the senior management of BBE by conducting and delivering on ad-hoc review requests as required.
- Deliver the agreed BBE annual group assurance plan, including the issue of reports in accordance with documented service levels.
- Undertake own allocation of group assurance reviews, which may be in conjunction with group assurance teammates.
- Ensure an effective approach for recording findings/actions is in operation, and liaise with senior teammates across BBE to track actions to address findings, seeking to ensure that actions are closed within deadline dates.
- Provide assurance to the BBE Risk & Compliance Committee as to the effectiveness and embedding of the minimum standards and the key controls established to comply with the relevant regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that significant issues identified are escalated in appropriate timeframes to senior management.
- Analyse trends identified from group assurance reviews and work with senior management including Risk & Compliance teammates to ensure appropriate action is taken to address.
- Prepare papers on all BBE group assurance matters primarily for the BBE Risk & Compliance Committee, but also for Boards and other committees as required. Attend and present at such meetings as requested.
- Lead and provide effective management to team members.
