We are seeking a Scientist to support the delivery of high-quality analytical testing for our clients. Reporting to a Team Leader, you will perform analytical and physical chemistry testing within a regulated laboratory environment, ensuring work is completed accurately, compliantly and to agreed timelines. The role is suited to Scientists who can work autonomously at the bench, with scope to broaden responsibility and technical contribution as experience develops. This role is based fully on site at Oak Tree House or Coleby House.
All Scientists in this role are expected to deliver the following as a minimum:
- Perform analytical testing on customer-supplied products in line with approved test methods, study protocols and SOPs
- Generate high-quality, compliant data within agreed turnaround times
- Prepare reagents, samples and standards to support laboratory testing
- Operate analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, LC-MS, GC-FID, GC-MS and CETI-8
- Record raw data accurately and promptly in line with ALCOA principles
- Produce, review and verify data and documentation in accordance with the Quality Management System
- Maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping and audit readiness
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety requirements
- Escalate and document deviations from test methods or study plans appropriately
With experience and progression, you will also:
- Work more independently across a broader range of analytical techniques
- Support laboratory investigations, including deviations, CAPAs, non-conformances and root cause analysis
- Coordinate, review and report data to internal and external clients
- Contribute to client technical discussions and provide updates on work progress
- Support the creation, update and review of SOPs, test methods and training materials
- Train, mentor and support Graduate or junior Scientists
- Deputise for the Team Leader when required, supporting workload management
- Participate in client and regulatory audits
- Contribute to continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives
In order to be successful in this role, you must have:
- A science-related degree (preferably Chemistry)
- At least 2 years’ post-graduate commercial laboratory experience at entry to the role
- Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
- Good technical problem-solving ability
- Strong verbal, numerical and written communication skills
- Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- A team-focused, customer-driven and professional approach
It would be great if you had:
- Experience training or supporting others in laboratory techniques
- Experience with chromatography theory, CDS systems and data interpretation
- Exposure to method development or validation
- Experience in data trending and result interpretation
