Operations Support Assistant
The Operations Support Assistant provides support to facilitate the smooth running of lab. The Operations Support Assistant is principally responsible for laboratory housekeeping activities and supporting operations to ensure the timely completion of analyses. Key skills for this role are attention to detail, ability to carefully follow instructions, pride in the work done.
On site role at Earby, BB18.
Responsibilities / Objectives
- Supporting laboratory teams in day-to-day tasks
- Performing some physical tests on client samples
- Performing laboratory housekeeping
- Ensuring compliance with regulations
- Registering client samples
Key tasks
- Manage the availability of clean glassware
- Perform routine stocktakes and follow the KANBAN process to ensure purchased stock or reagents are ordered in time for testing schedules
- Booking chemicals and consumables in and out, ensuring records are accurate
- Booking and registering client samples
- Notify the appropriate team member of any equipment and consumable requirements deemed necessary to ensure minimum disruption to laboratory operations
- Maintain and understand the QMS, produce any quality documents in accordance with data integrity requirements
- Perform LabHQ sample submission and registration for prompt delivery to the laboratory for analysis
- Control sample receipt and reconciliation against client submissions
- Perform routine archive of client samples
- Perform preparation of high demand diluents and other solutions as required by test methods and procedures
- Perform some physical chemistry testing/operate vaping simulation hardware
- Some travel between sites to support with stability and archive activities as an when required
- Supporting the laboratory team as required
- Performing other duties as and when required by the business
Qualifications and Education Requirements
GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths - required.
GCSE or equivalent in a Science related subject with a desire to learn the workings of an analytical laboratory – preferred.
Key skills and attributes
- Good attention to detail
- Good IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Good verbal, numerical and literacy skill
Salary and benefits
Starting Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Broughton Day: option of a fixed day off every 2 or 3 weeks through salary sacrifice
Holidays: 25 days per annum (Option to purchase 1 weeks additional holiday)
Pension: Auto-enrolment with Royal London
Annual Bonus: £1,200 based on company and personal performance.
