Are you looking for an Accounts Senior position within a growing team? We are working exclusively with a well-established accountancy practice in Scarborough for this newly created position. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team where you’ll take ownership of a varied client portfolio, producing high-quality accounts and supporting clients with day-to-day queries, helping deliver an excellent service year-round.

What the Accounts Senior job involves:

  • Working as part of an experienced accounts team, you will be responsible for preparing accounts and supporting the wider practice with a range of duties, including:
  • Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Producing and reviewing management accounts (where required)
  • Preparing basic corporation tax computations and supporting information (depending on experience)
  • Completing VAT returns and liaising with clients to resolve queries
  • Assisting with bookkeeping and ensuring records are accurate and up to date
  • Communicating with clients via phone/email to gather information and provide updates
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members (Accounts Senior level)
  • Working to deadlines and maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism

Skills required:

  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice at a Senior or Semi Senior level
  • A solid understanding of preparing accounts for a range of business types
  • Confident using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset
  • Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively during busy periods

  • This is a fulltime position working 37.5 hours per week
