Academics is recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 2 Teacher to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Barry. This temporary full time role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young learners and delivering high quality, engaging lessons within a positive Key Stage 1 environment. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 2 class, plan and deliver effective lessons, and help pupils grow in confidence as they progress through the curriculum.

Role Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging and age appropriate lessons for Year 2 pupils
  • Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
  • Creating a calm and supportive classroom environment
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the school
  • Maintaining positive communication with pupils, staff and parents
  • Encouraging pupil confidence, independence and positive behaviour

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience teaching within KS1, ideally Year 2
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and best teaching practices
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour positively and consistently
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • EWC registration (or willingness to register)
