Salary: £14.20 - £15.60 per hour during training/day shift, increasing to £15.62 - £17.16 per hour inclusive of night shift allowance
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Permanent night shift hours: 10:00pm - 6:00am, Initial training period of approximately 4 weeks (or until fully trained): 9:00am - 5:00pm
At Quantum Packaging, we manufacture flexible food packaging for some of the UK leading brands, including Marks & Spencer, Pizza Hut, Nando's, McDonald's and many more. As our business continues to expand year on year, we are investing in our people and operations. Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional Production / Machine Operators to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the Production / Machine Operator Role
This is a key role within our production team where you will be responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring machinery to ensure production runs efficiently, safely and to a high standard of quality. You will work independently on the night shift, ensuring customer orders are produced and dispatched on time while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
As our Night Shift Production / Machine Operator you will be responsible for:
- Setting up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle
- Operating Ashe Slitters, Berhalter Die Cutting machines and other equipment
- Meeting production targets and dispatch deadlines
- Monitoring and adjusting machine settings
- Inspecting products using precision measuring tools
- Troubleshooting machinery issues during production
- Maintaining production records and activity logs
- Operating forklifts to move materials and finished goods
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping
- Following all health and safety procedures
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous proven experience as a Machine Operator or similar role
- Knowledge of high-speed machinery and measurement tools
- Experience operating slitting machines or similar equipment is highly desirable
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina and a proactive attitude
- Commitment to health and safety procedures
- Forklift licence desirable but not essential
