A global manufacturer offering long-term prospects and an excellent working environment. Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 10pm to 6am, and Friday, 6pm to midnight.

On behalf of a global manufacturing company based near Rochdale, we are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer who will be responsible for the maintenance of production machines, related equipment, site services equipment, and building infrastructure.

Key duties include:

  • Overall responsibility for availability and operational effectiveness of all production and site services equipment, conducting reactive and proactive maintenance.
  • Schedule planned maintenance tasks and complete as planned, always keeping plant and infrastructure in good working order.
  • Improve site operational effectiveness and downtime reduction by implementing agreed improvement plans in line with KPIs.
  • Work as a team on technical best practice and establish related policies and procedures.
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting and updating changes to training, working practices, and procedures.
  • Promote the use and development of root cause analysis and condition-based monitoring methodologies.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of production processes and machine operation through training and self-learning so faults can be diagnosed and rectified efficiently.
  • Autonomously self-initiate and assign technical activities in support of new products, processes, applications, or technologies.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A recognised electrical and/or mechanical engineering qualification.
  • Be a well-organised problem solver, analytical with attention to detail.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repair on a wide range of machinery and equipment gained in a relevant manufacturing organisation.
  • Experience with inverter drives, machine control systems, and PLCs.
  • Familiar with planned maintenance systems, i.e., Pirana or similar applications.
  • Up to date with modern maintenance techniques, including PLC and inverter fault finding, programming, and replacement.
  • Computer literate.
  • Knowledge and experience of working within workplace safety and environmental requirements, including current regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work on own initiative, think logically, and solve problems.
  • Ability to produce accurate, timely, and complete reporting information utilising available computer systems where required.
