Duties:
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Follow technical specifications and colour schemes accurately to meet project requirements.
- Mask off areas to protect surfaces not intended for painting.
- Mix paints and other materials to achieve desired colours and textures.
- Perform minor repairs on surfaces prior to painting, including patching holes or cracks.
- Maintain a clean work environment by disposing of waste materials responsibly and cleaning tools after use.
- Collaborate with other trades such as carpentry, roofing, plumbing, masonry, welding, electrical work, and fabrication teams as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in construction painting or related trades such as roofing, carpentry, masonry, or welding is preferred.
- Knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in painting and surface preparation.
- Ability to work with various materials including paints, primers, stains, and coatings.
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to working at heights or around hazardous substances.
- Basic understanding of other construction trades such as plumbing or electrical work is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to follow technical instructions accurately.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including lifting equipment and working at heights if necessary.
- Relevant experience in fabrication or working with specialised coatings is a plus.
