Location: Children's Residential Care Homes, Leyland
Hours & Pattern: Full-time, 40 hours per week (average). Shift pattern includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins, and lone working. 2 on / 4 off shift pattern.
Salary: £29,600 per year, £50 per sleep-in (approx. 10 per month).
Job Purpose
Assist the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager with day-to-day operations and provide cover across homes. Ensure the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of children and young people are met in a supportive, homely, and professional environment. Comply with Ofsted, government, and Association policies to maintain quality standards. Achieve and maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating. Promote an organizational culture aligned with core values.
Principal Responsibilities
- Management & Administration
- Assist managers in recruitment, staff induction, training, performance management, and allocation of duties.
- Maintain care home operations: shifts, budgets, petty cash, record-keeping, and reports.
- Care Provision
- Ensure care is provided in a positive, inclusive environment that considers race, spirituality, gender, disability, and sexual orientation.
- Maintain accurate, professional care plans, risk assessments, and anti-bullying strategies.
- Build positive relationships with children/young people, assessing needs and developing individual care plans.
- Operational & Financial Duties
- Support home administration, including supplies and services management, written reports and records, maintenance, cleaning, and grounds upkeep, budget monitoring and petty cash management, engagement with the local community.
- Staff Development
- Guide and train staff, provide feedback, audit records, coach, and manage performance.
- Safeguarding
- Act immediately on any safeguarding concerns and follow procedures.
- Attend court proceedings, child protection conferences, and provide reports.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain communication within the home and with external agencies, schools, families, and the community.
- Ensure staff awareness of legal, professional, safeguarding, and administrative practices.
- Youth Engagement
- Work individually or in groups with children/young people to enhance relationships, personal behaviour, and life skills.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Undertake designated projects or tasks assigned by management.
- Deputise for the Deputy Manager as needed.
