We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Technician & Workshop Supervisor to join our busy and growing garage. This is a hands‑on leadership role combining advanced technical expertise with day‑to‑day workshop supervision.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
- Qualified MOT Tester
- Minimum 10 years experience in vehicle mechanics
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capability
- Proven experience working on a wide range of vehicles
- Full UK Driving Licence
About you
As a Vehicle Technician you will lead on complex diagnostics and repairs, while supporting the development of junior team members and ensuring high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism across the workshop.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical vehicle faults
- Take ownership of larger, high‑value, and technically challenging jobs
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard
- Support quality control across all workshop outputs
- Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior technicians
- Act as a role model for professional conduct, work ethic, and standards
- Provide guidance and technical oversight to the team
- Assist in building a high‑performance workshop culture
- Workshop Supervision
- Support and deputise for the Garage Owner when required
- Take responsibility for workshop operations during assigned shifts
- Participate in rotational opening, closing, and shutdown procedures
- Support admin staff in management of workflow, job allocation, and productivity
- Compliance & Standards
- Carry out MOT testing in line with DVSA standards
- Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation
Working Hours
7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday
Salary
£35 - £42k, dependent on experience
