We're supporting a London-based NHS Trust to appoint an experienced Head of Corporate Governance on a 3-6 month contract. This is a critical senior leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen corporate governance at Board level within a complex and high‑profile organisation.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Trust Chair, you'll lead on all aspects of corporate governance, ensuring robust systems, compliance, and effective decision‑making across the organisation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading Trust-wide corporate governance frameworks, systems, and processes
  • Supporting the Board of Directors and Council of Governors to meet statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Acting as a key advisor on governance, legislation, and best practice
  • Managing Board and Committee processes, including agendas, papers, and governance reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with NHS regulatory frameworks, constitution, and governance standards
  • Overseeing Information Governance, including data protection and FOI processes
  • Leading membership strategy and governor engagement
  • Managing senior governance and secretariat teams

About You

This role requires a highly credible and experienced governance professional who can operate confidently at Board level. You’ll bring:

  • NHS experience
  • Significant experience in a senior governance or Company Secretary role within a large/complex organisation
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, and risk management
  • Experience supporting Boards and Committees, including Non-Executive Directors
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at senior level
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Relevant postgraduate or professional qualification (or equivalent experience)
