Polytec are looking for a Technical Sales Specialist in Chemistry for our client, a successful scientific equipment manufacturer.
You will be responsible for a large area stretching across the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. You must be based within this territory, preferably between Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
This field-based role focuses on driving new business, strengthening customer relationships and supporting users across the territory.
Responsibilities:- Sales Development: Identify new opportunities and manage the full sales cycle.
- Customer Management: Build and maintain relationships through structured site visits, calls and account management.
- Field Work: Carry out product demonstrations, training sessions and onsite meetings (including overnight travel).
- CRM Management: Keep accurate records and follow internal sales processes using CRM software (Salesforce).
- Events: Organise and attend local mini exhibitions, symposiums and similar activities.
- Additional Duties: Support territory related marketing, contribute to webinars and training videos, and report on competitors and market trends.
- Experience working with organic, medicinal, scale up or process chemists within sectors such as pharmaceuticals, CROs, biotech, biopharma, chemicals or academia.
- Proven success meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- BSc or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field.
- Good technical understanding of chemistry related laboratory equipment.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Dynamic, self-motivated and highly organized.
- Resilient and able to stay effective during demanding sales cycles.
- Confident communicating with senior stakeholders.
- A team player with sound decision making abilities.
- Flexible and comfortable engaging with customers at all levels.
