Our client, a leader in Defence & Security, is currently seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer for a 6‑month contract to join their Defence Information Advantage team in Romsey, working at least 3 days per week on‑site. This role operates inside IR35 and requires a BPSS check, ideally with existing SC or UKSV DV clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Join and contribute to agile ceremonies following Scrum, Kanban or SAFe
- Coach team members in DevSecOps practices
- Collaborate with product owners and software developers to schedule releases and implement CI/CD pipelines
- Work alongside security architects to ensure products and services are secure by design
- Partner with quality engineers to ensure high‑quality deliverables
- Implement and oversee changes to products and services
- Participate in and contribute to code reviews
- Support operational systems and troubleshoot issues
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a degree in a STEM subject or equivalent level of practical experience. Significantly, you must bring expertise in the following areas:
- Cloud Technologies
- Experience with AWS, with additional knowledge in Azure and GCP being beneficial
- Cyber Security
- Vulnerability management tools, such as Tenable
- IDAM systems like Azure AD or Keycloak
- Vulnerability scanning through tools like SonarQube
- Network security, including the secure provision of certificates and tokens
- Virtualisation and Containerisation
- Experience with Docker or Podman for containerisation
- Container management using Kubernetes
- GPU containerisation experience with tools like NVIDIA Container Toolkit or Run:AI
- Architectural Styles
- Strong knowledge in Microservices, Serverless, and Edge compute
- Proficiency with APIs, both RESTful and Protobuf GRPC
- Familiarity with stream‑based pub/sub systems including Kafka and MQTT
- DevSecOps Tooling
- Version control systems such as Git
- CI/CD tools like Gitlab CI/CD
- Infrastructure as code tools, for example, Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible
- Proficiency in Linux shell scripting
- Programming languages useful in automation like Python or Rust
- SRE analysis tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic Search
Beyond technical know‑how, you should be proactive, with exceptional communication skills, and adept at working both independently and collaboratively. Previous experience in DevSecOps roles and a commitment to Continuous Improvement and Learning from Experience are critical. Familiarity with the defence industry's unique challenges is a plus.
