A progressive and growing accountancy firm is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to join its Cambridge office. Part of a wider UK and Ireland network of over 3,000 professionals, the business combines the strength of a national group with the personal, relationship-led approach of a local practice. Their focus remains on delivering trusted, forward-thinking advice to SMEs through close, long-term client partnerships. The role

You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of corporate and private clients, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting and compliance services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors
  • Acting as the main point of contact, providing proactive and commercially focused advice
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, directors, and colleagues
  • Reviewing statutory accounts and corporation tax computations, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP
  • Reviewing self-assessment returns and liaising with specialist tax teams when required
  • Managing workflow, deadlines, and delivery standards across your portfolio
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members through review and coaching
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance client service and cross-sell additional services

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in managing a client portfolio within an accountancy practice
  • Technically strong, with a solid understanding of UK GAAP and compliance requirements
  • A confident communicator, able to build lasting client relationships
  • Organised, commercially aware, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Passionate about supporting and developing junior team members
