As a fast-growing dynamic team of flavour experts, my client is dedicated to the delivery of high-quality flavour solutions for their customers in the food and beverage industry across the UK and worldwide. They are now looking to grow their development team with an experienced Flavour Applications Technologist to help them progress to the next level. They operate across all areas of the food and beverage industry, including: bakery, confectionery, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, dairy and culinary, and as a Flavour Technologist you will work on projects across all of these product categories.
As Flavour Applications Technologist, you will be responsible for:
- Formulating and developing food and beverage applications in response to customer briefings to achieve profitable business growth - the major area of focus are bakery, dairy, confectionery, beverages, culinary and sports nutrition.
- Managing multiple projects concurrently and prioritising between a variety of business initiatives within tight deadlines.
- Visiting customers and giving presentations and technical advice where needed.
- Applying food processing knowledge and technical findings to develop proactively new product applications and grow meaningful business opportunities.
- Keeping up-to-date on new ingredients, latest food trends and industry challenges to ensure we provide our customers with cutting edge solutions.
- Building up and maintaining a comprehensive flavour portfolio across all end uses and for our lead markets.
- Building strong multi-level relationships with key customers in partnership with the sales team.
- Assisting clients with the upscaling (pilot plant & factory) of new flavour solutions.
- General Lab & material management.
- Running of bench top and pilot plant equipment (e.g. ovens, ice cream machine, carbonator).
Requirements:
- You will ideally have a degree in Food Science, Food Technology or similar.
- You will have 3+ years experience working within a development role within the food, flavours or food ingredients sectors, preferably in the sweet area (beverage, confectionery, dairy or bakery) or working with flavours, food ingredients, colours, gums or stabilisers for applications within the beverage, confectionery, bakery or dairy sectors.
- This role will work across multiple categories; you do not need to have knowledge of all areas and we are happy to consider candidates with experience in only one category, if you are keen to broaden your knowledge into other areas.
- You will possess excellent technical skills and broad understanding of food and drink categories (non-alcoholic drinks, alcoholic drinks, confectionery, dairy, bakery) and have a sound knowledge of flavours and food ingredients.
- You will be able to demonstrate good project management and time management skills and have the ability to multi-task, prioritise, plan, and deliver projects on time to a high standard.
- You will be self-motivated with very good interpersonal and communication skills, and have a keen attention to detail.
- Flavour Evaluation & Portfolio Management Skills.
- Able to react to latest consumer trends with disruptive innovation concepts.
