The Client
A well-established regional main contractor, one of the mainstays of the area, with a strong reputation across East Anglia, delivering a range of new build and refurbishment projects across sectors including education, commercial, healthcare and public sector works. Operating primarily across Suffolk, North Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, the business undertakes projects typically up to around 5m in value and has built an excellent reputation for quality delivery, repeat business and staff retention.
The Role
Due to a growing workload and secured pipeline of projects, they are looking to appoint a Site Manager on a permanent basis. The ideal location for this individual would be somewhere between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds, given the spread of their current and upcoming projects, although not essential, provided you have easy links to the area. The first scheme will be a school project in Colchester, with future projects generally based across Suffolk and the surrounding counties. This role would suit an experienced Site Manager who is capable of independently managing projects through from site setup to handover, whilst maintaining programme, quality and health & safety standards. Salary is expected to be circa 55,000 + package, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day site operations
- Coordinating subcontractors and site labour
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification
- Monitoring quality standards across all stages of the build
- Liaising with clients, consultants and the wider project team
- Chairing and attending regular progress meetings
- Managing site paperwork, reporting and health & safety documentation
- Overseeing site logistics and sequencing of works
- Assisting in ensuring projects are delivered within budget
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working for a main contractor as a Site Manager
- Experience delivering projects within the education, commercial or public sectors is beneficial
- Comfortable running projects up to approximately 5m in value
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications required
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence essential
