About Us
Family-owned since 1992 with 14 generations of cider-making heritage, we operate one of the UK\'s largest drinks production facilities in Shepton Mallet. Our 40-acre site produces over 550 million units annually across 6 filling lines, with capabilities spanning cans, bottles, PET, kegs and bulk liquid. We combine traditional craft with modern technology, using the full Microsoft ecosystem alongside specialist manufacturing systems to serve major retailers and global brands. We produce high-quality products for a range of customers and are looking for a talented Shift Manager to join our team.
The Role
As a Shift Manager, you’ll be fully accountable for leading your team during assigned shifts, ensuring seamless operations while maintaining the highest standards in product quality, health & safety, and hygiene. You’ll lead by example, actively managing daily performance and driving continuous improvement.
This role operates on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, covering both days and nights — 4 consecutive day shifts, followed by 4 days off, then 4 consecutive night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, support, and motivate a team of Production Operatives and Lead Operatives.
· Ensure production lines run smoothly, safely, and to the required specification.
· Meet and report against agreed production KPIs.
· Promote and uphold excellent health & safety, hygiene, and GMP standards.
· Manage and resolve first-line HR matters such as absence, conduct, welfare, and performance issues in line with company policy.
· Conduct return-to-work interviews and preliminary investigations into incidents, escalating where necessary.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise processes and performance.
· Train and develop team members to build a flexible, multi-skilled workforce.
· Accurately complete all shift paperwork, system entries, and handovers.
· Work closely with Engineering, QA, and other internal teams to resolve operational issues promptly.
· Maintain a clean, organised, and audit-ready environment at all times.
What We’re Looking For
· Proven experience in a Shift Manager or similar leadership role ideally in a FMCG environment.
· Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate and engage teams.
· Solid knowledge of GMP, health & safety, and hygiene requirements.
· Proactive, organised, and confident decision-maker.
· Good IT skills, with MS Office essential (experience with D365 or similar systems would be a plus).
· Previous experience working in a canning and bottling environment, particularly with carbonated drinks, would be advantageous.
Desirable Qualifications
IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to undertake training)
Knowledge of CIP processes and chemical handling procedures
