Family-owned since 1992, with 14 generations of cider-making heritage, we operate one of the UKs largest drinks production sites from our 40-acre facility in Shepton Mallet. Producing over 550 million units annually across six high-tech filling lines (cans, bottles, PET, kegs, and bulk liquid), we blend traditional craft with modern technology to serve major retailers and global brands. To support this growth, we're expanding our engineering team and looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to help keep our production running efficiently and reliably.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Diagnose and repair production and process equipment across all sites.
- Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance including wiring, fault finding, and system repairs.
- Work with PLCs, inverters, heating elements, servo motors, contactors, overloads, sensors (inductive, reed, proximity), and more.
- Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, shafts, tensioners, bearings, etc.
- Maintain a range of equipment including high-speed packing machines, fillers, pasteurisers, printers, boxing machines, and inspection systems.
- Record breakdowns and maintenance activities clearly and accurately.
- Execute and improve pre-planned maintenance (PPM) to reduce downtime and support OEE targets.
- Contribute to ongoing performance improvements and engineering projects.
This role operates on a 4 on / 4 off rotating shift: 12-hour shifts (6-6) 2 days on, followed by 2 nights on.
What You'll Need:
- Fully qualified maintenance engineer (ideally time-served, with City & Guilds / HNC / HND).
- Strong electrical experience is essential.
- Working knowledge of PLC systems and automated equipment.
- Mechanical experience with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and more.
- Good IT and record-keeping skills.
- FMCG or food & beverage manufacturing background preferred.
- Additional skills like turning, milling, or welding are advantageous.
