The IT Controls Officer will support the development, operation and ongoing improvement of the organisation’s IT control framework.
The role will help ensure that technology-related risks are identified, appropriately managed and supported by effective, well-documented controls.
Working with colleagues across IT, Information Security, Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit, the postholder will coordinate control testing, monitor remedial actions and provide clear management information on the effectiveness of the IT control environment.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the organisation’s IT controls framework, control library and supporting documentation.
- Perform regular testing to confirm that key IT controls are designed appropriately and operating effectively.
- Review evidence relating to areas such as user access, privileged accounts, system changes, data backups, incident management and business continuity.
- Identify control weaknesses, assess their potential impact and agree proportionate corrective actions with control owners.
- Maintain an accurate record of control deficiencies, risks, actions, owners and completion dates.
- Monitor remediation plans and challenge overdue or insufficient actions appropriately.
- Support IT risk assessments for systems, processes, projects and significant technology changes.
- Produce clear reports and dashboards covering testing results, control performance, emerging risks and overdue actions.
