Broster Buchanan is working in partnership with a leading not for profit organisation as they recruit a Part Time Assistant Management Accountant to join them to drive significant change and transformation to accounting systems and processes.
Assistant Management Accountant (12-month FTC Part-time, 60% FTE, c.£32,000-£40,000 FTE)
Are you a detail-driven finance professional looking for a role with real purpose? Do you want to bring your management accounting skills to an organisation that genuinely makes a difference? Broster Buchanan are working with a values-led not-for-profit, and we're looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their friendly, supportive finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a part-time role (60% FTE) with flexible hybrid working - and some of the best holidays around, with c.40 days off a year including statutory days.
You'll work alongside budget holders and colleagues across the organisation, helping turn numbers into insight and supporting strong financial planning and decision-making.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building strong working relationships across the organisation to deliver a genuinely value-adding finance service
- Producing first-stage analysis and variance commentary at month and year end
- Supporting the preparation of forecasts and longer-term financial plans, including ongoing monitoring and reporting
- Meeting regularly with budget holders to review spend against plan - spotting, resolving, or escalating issues early
- Acting as a first point of contact for finance questions and queries, responding promptly and helpfully
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in a busy, customer-focused finance role
- Solid management accounting skills - budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting, with the ability to identify and explain variances
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
- Strong communication skills, including explaining complex information to non-specialists
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
- Strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office, and an eye for using systems to support clear reporting
It would be great if you also had:
- Part-qualification (or equivalent experience) towards a recognised accountancy qualification CCAB (ACA / CIMA / CIPFA / ACCA)
- Experience with finance systems and reporting tools such as Power BI and SAP
