Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer β Contract (Hybrid 2-3 days/wk)

/n Our Financial Services client has a contract vacancy for an experienced Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer to join their Data & Business Architecture team.
/n
This is a hands-on role supporting the operation, development and continuous improvement of a Microsoft Fabric data platform. You'll work across data engineering, platform development, DevOps, CI/CD and data operations, helping to improve the performance, resilience and automation of the platform.
/n
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Data Engineer to play a key role in developing and improving a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform, while contributing to automation, DevOps and a scalable data operating model.

Role
/n
/n
- Develop, maintain and optimise Microsoft Fabric pipelines, Lakehouses, Warehouses and semantic models.
/n
- Implement platform improvements arising from a Microsoft Fabric Health Check.
/n
- Support data ingestion, transformation, validation and integration across internal and external data sources.
/n
- Troubleshoot pipeline and platform issues and carry out root-cause analysis and performance optimisation.
/n
- Enhance CI/CD, Git and Azure DevOps processes across development, test and production environments.
/n
- Support data quality, reconciliation, vendor feeds and critical business reporting.
/n
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve data quality and operational efficiency.
/n
- Develop technical documentation, runbooks and support procedures.
/n

Skills & Experience
/n
/n
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
/n
- Excellent SQL, Python and PySpark skills.
/n
- Experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines and semantic models.
/n
- Practical experience of Git, Azure DevOps and CI/CD.
/n
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with experience resolving production data issues.
/n
- Experience working with APIs, files, databases and third-party data providers.
/n
- Understanding of data governance, security, quality and reconciliation.
/n
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
/n
/n
Experience in financial services or another regulated environment would be advantageous, as would Microsoft Fabric certification.
/n
