Want to be a business partner who gets listened to?
We're working with a national organisation on a Finance Business Partner appointment. This role is for someone who can turn the numbers into a story that senior leaders can act on, and who has the confidence to say "have we thought about this?" when it matters.
You'll partner with members of the Strategic Leadership Team and their teams. That means helping them plan, model and make decisions, from business cases and option appraisals to pricing, new products and performance against KPIs.
You'll be a critical friend and a two-way link between the business and Finance.
You'll also help make sure every major decision takes funding, capital, risk, governance and the regulatory picture into account.
What you'll be doing
- Working closely with senior leaders to understand their areas and build relationships that hold up under challenge
- Monitoring performance against business plans and feeding into papers for the executive team, committees and the Board
- Supporting high-quality business plans and business cases, with robust, measurable costs, KPIs, risks and benefits
- Building unit costs and total cost of ownership analysis so decisions rest on facts
- Analysing salary forecasts and budget variances to spot risks and opportunities early
- Working with commercial colleagues to maximise net contribution from priced services
- Supporting the risk management and internal control cycle, and making sure control issues are resolved
What you'll bring
- AAT qualified and / or actively studying for your ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA or ACA
- The courage to speak up, challenge, and hold a mirror up to the business
- Strong influencing skills, and the persistence to keep going when the message doesn't land first time
- The ability to explain financial information in plain English and recommend a course of action
- A proactive, commercially minded approach to change
- Ideally, public sector finance experience, an understanding of management accounting techniques, and knowledge of the Green Book business case process
This is a great opportunity to have real influence in an organisation with a genuine public purpose.
