We are working with an established and successful manufacturing business based in Haverhill who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team.
This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys working closely with the wider business and wants to play an important role in maintaining robust financial controls, supporting month-end reporting and providing meaningful financial information to senior management.
The successful candidate will be commercially minded, technically strong and comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Analyse financial performance, identifying variances and key trends.
- Provide financial information and analysis to senior management to support business decisions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure accounting processes are accurate and effective.
- Oversee and review transactional finance activities where required.
- Support stock accounting, inventory reporting and manufacturing-related financial analysis.
- Assist with standard costing, product costing and analysis of manufacturing variances.
- Monitor overheads, margins and other key financial performance indicators.
- Liaise with external auditors and assist with the preparation of year-end accounts.
- Support the Finance Manager/Financial Controller with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and controls.
About You The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a Senior Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role.
- Strong month-end and management accounts experience.
- Experience within a manufacturing or product-based environment is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of stock, inventory and cost accounting.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- The ability to analyse financial information and explain findings clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive and commercially focused approach.
- Experience of working with an ERP/accounting system.
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or significant progress towards qualification) would be advantageous, although relevant experience will also be considered.
