Position Summary

BROOKWOOD DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CENTER 513 Brookwood Blvd Suite 100 Birmingham, AL 35209

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Assess the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient’s clinical history, and assure that the information is accurately documented.
  • Position patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulate technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Apply principles of MRI safety to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehend and comply with Quality Control standards and participate in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Perform venipuncture and evaluate IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administer medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assist in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilize all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensure safety of all customers.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Graduate of accredited school of Sonography
  • Graduate of accredited school of Nuclear Medicine
  • Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

Licensure/Certification:

  • Must have one (1) of the following:
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Valid American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification
  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification (MRI) or Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Alabama (Preferred).

Experience:

  • Mandatory minimum of two (2) years MRI experience and experience in one or more of the following areas: Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab, IR procedural imaging, Breast imaging or Cardiac imaging.
  • Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
  • Primary responsibility: Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality.
