We are recruiting for a Lead Accountant to join the Accountancy Services Team in the Warrington office.
The Role
As a Lead Accountant you will work within the Accountancy PODs and report to the Head of Accountancy Services. You will be responsible for an allocated portfolio of customers who you will primarily deal with on the telephone or by email. On occasion, there may be a requirement to meet customers at the office “face-to-face”.
Main Responsibilities
- Act as the relationship owner for a portfolio of customers.
- Ensure all customer work (e.g., VAT returns, annual accounts) is completed accurately, on time, and in line with all filing deadlines.
- Identify tax‑planning and efficiency opportunities, recommending relevant products and services (including those from Brookson Financial) where appropriate.
- Encourage customer advocacy, promoting referrals to our service.
- Line-manage service support professionals, setting priorities and reviewing completed work for accuracy and completeness.
- Coach and develop team members, using work reviews and regular 1:1s to support technical and professional growth.
- Act as the first point of escalation for client issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
- Contribute to process and system improvements, supporting continuous improvement and consistent delivery against KPIs.

Essential Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- Five years’ experience working in a client facing accountancy practice environment.
- Able to produce statutory accounts and CT600, discussing the same with customers.
- Able to produce VAT returns for a variety of customers.
- Working knowledge of income tax and the ability to discuss income planning with customers.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues at various levels.
- Some experience reviewing work prepared by colleagues.
Desirable Experience, and Qualifications
- People management experience.
- ACCA/ACA qualified.
