The Role
As a Tekla Project Designer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of architectural metalwork and balcony projects. Working closely with architects, structural engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and site installation teams, you will develop detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and technical solutions that meet project requirements, quality standards, and programme deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 3D models using Tekla Structures for balconies, balustrades, architectural metalwork, and associated steelwork.
- Generate fabrication and installation drawings, GA drawings, and material schedules.
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and design intent.
- Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, engineers, and internal project teams.
- Resolve technical design challenges while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Attend design coordination meetings and contribute to project planning.
- Support manufacturing and installation teams with technical information and drawing revisions.
- Manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Assist in developing efficient fabrication and installation methodologies.
Candidate Requirements – Essential
- Proven experience using Tekla Structures in a design or detailing environment.
- Experience within architectural metalwork, balconies, structural steelwork, or façade-related industries.
- Strong understanding of fabrication and installation processes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate work.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.
Candidate Requirements – Desirable
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Experience with aluminium, steel, stainless steel, and glass systems.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and coordination platforms.

- Understanding of balcony systems, balustrades, railings, secondary steelwork, and architectural features.
