We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to join our team at Loughborough College Group, based at Loughborough College. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Maintenance Officer to join our busy, customer‑focused Estates department.

Your role will support a proactive maintenance service that meets the needs of the college now and in the future by being innovative in its approach to planned and reactive maintenance. You will be responsible for general maintenance supporting all aspects of the estates department.

Loughborough College Group, formed of Brooksby College, Loughborough College, Stephenson College and IGNITE Performing Arts, offers a vast curriculum across campuses and invests in modern facilities and resources.

Employment Details

Working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. The shifts are rotated between teams: 05:45–13:45 and 13:45–21:45. While your main days of work are Monday‑Friday, you may be required to work an occasional Saturday or Sunday to cover events such as open days.

The successful candidate will be employed by The Leicestershire College, a subsidiary of Loughborough College Group, whose terms and conditions differ from Loughborough College Group’s. All employees of The Leicestershire College are based at one of the Loughborough College Group campuses.

We are unable to provide skilled worker sponsorship for this position; applicants must have the right to work in the country without sponsorship. All applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine compliance checks including legionella monitoring, emergency lighting tests, fire alarm testing and portable appliance testing
  • Support opening and securing of college buildings and respond to security call‑outs
  • Deliver reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring work meets KPIs and SLAs
  • Provide rapid response to emergencies, liaising with emergency services when required
  • Drive and maintain college vehicles, support traffic and parking management

Qualifications

  • Proven and extensive experience working in a maintenance or construction trade
  • Experience of working to key performance targets
  • Ability to work independently using initiative or as part of a team with clear instruction
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with staff at a range of levels by behaving with integrity, treating people with respect and leading by example
