Brooks Macdonald are looking for a Head of Products and Propositions to join our Finance team in London.
Within this role, you will be responsible for leading the development, governance, and ongoing management of our product suite and client propositions within our wealth management business.
This role is critical in ensuring our offerings remain competitive, compliant, client-centric, and aligned with our strategic goals and regulatory obligations, including Consumer Duty.
Role Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Development
- Lead the development and refinement of market-leading products and services tailored to meet the needs of our clients across all segments.
- Define and own the product roadmap and proposition strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client outcomes.
- Drive innovation in the product offering through market insight, customer feedback, and competitive analysis.
Product Governance and Consumer Duty
- Investment Management: Lead the Products and Propositions function in supporting the investment management business by overseeing the development, packaging and governance of investment products and services. This includes, managing product lifecycle processes, conducting market/competitor analysis and product reviews.
- Financial Planning: Support leadership with the financial planning proposition. Support the design and governance of advice as a product,
- Support strategic direction and oversight for the company in relation to the FCA’s Consumer Duty, ensuring products consistently deliver fair value and good outcomes for customers.
- Participate in Product Governance Committees, ensuring governance frameworks are embedded across the lifecycle of all products.
- Define differentiated client propositions, including service models and pricing, for various client segments.
- Ensure consistency, clarity, and effectiveness of the value proposition across all channels and touchpoints.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Products and Propositions team, which includes product development, product governance and consumer duty.
- Foster a collaborative and client-focused culture across the department.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement professional development plans for your team.
Stakeholder Management
- Work cross-functionally with the business to ensure seamless delivery of propositions.
- Act as a senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all matters related to product and proposition strategy.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Helps to ensure the firm’s ongoing compliance with all relevant regulations, particularly in relation to Product Governance, Consumer Duty, MiFID II, and other applicable frameworks.
- Maintain robust risk oversight and control mechanisms in relation to the design, delivery, and review of products.
- Perform role always ensuring adherence to the expected behaviours stated in the FCA Conduct Rules
Experience Required:
- Demonstrable senior-level leadership experience in product management or proposition development within Financial Services, IFA, Investment or Wealth Management industries.
- Deep understanding of wealth and investment management products and the UK regulatory environment, particularly Consumer Duty, PROD rules, and broader conduct risk obligations.
- Familiarity with fund lifecycle management and governance requirements, ideally with experience overseeing/interacting with OEIC structures or acting as a liaison with ACDs.
- Proven commercial acumen with the ability to translate strategic vision into actionable product plans.
- Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing at senior executive levels.
- Experience in managing a product lifecycle and implementing governance frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience of leading product and proposition projects in partnership with members of other departments and contributing to wider organisational objectives.
- Previous workforce planning, and budget management experience.
