Role Overview

The Strategy Director works closely with the GSCO to assist in setting, tracking, and delivering the ‘2030 Vision’ and product strategy. This role plays a pivotal part in contributing to value-accretive strategic initiatives and supporting cross-functional cohesion and collaboration. This includes mobilising the organisation towards more effective ways of working, ensuring quantifiable progress, accountability of roles, and coherence of activities.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support mobilisation of the 2030 strategy: Lead the establishment, coordination and tracking of strategic initiatives across the group, working with business unit and executive-level leaders.
  • Support product & proposition offerings: Define and own the product roadmap and proposition strategy, supported by market insight, customer feedback, and competitive analysis. Ensure suitability, operational accountability, and competitiveness. Oversee the innovation, development and governance of investment products services, maintaining robust risk oversight in relation to the design, delivery, and review of products.
  • Internal troubleshooting resource: Act as an internal troubleshooting resource for group functions, providing savings on the use of external consultants.
  • Strategic input & implementation: Support the GSCO in establishing, tracking, and implementing the strategy-execution framework, acting as a conduit between different functions to foster a collaborative approach in achieving strategic objectives.
  • Project delivery & collaboration: Identify and collaborate with relevant SMEs across the group to deliver projects identified in the ‘2030 Vision’.
  • Strategy function development: Assist in the development, growth, and hiring of the strategy function, including defining responsibilities of future roles and responsibilities.
  • Management responsibilities: Oversee and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and successful contribution to strategic initiatives. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging open communication and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct: Perform role always ensuring adherence to the expected behaviours stated in the FCA Conduct Rules and help to ensure the firm’s ongoing compliance with Product Governance, Consumer Duty, MiFID II regulations and other applicable frameworks.

Immediate Areas of Focus

  • Support GCSO and BU leaders in communication, stakeholder engagement and adoption of ‘strategic-execution’ framework – including support in development of detailed business cases.
  • Support in the development of financial model and value creation plan liaising as required with external firms in support of financing options and adoption of 5-year strategy.
  • Develop and communicate product and proposition strategy and governance, establishing clarity of ownership of BM product suite and activities in order to address current flows and meet MTP.
  • Work with internal staff and external consultancy teams to assess present gaps and identify appropriate actions to improve Net flows and meet MTP.
  • Support GTOM initiative to deliver necessary short term cost savings and establish the foundations for more scalable and efficient longer-term growth.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • Strong experience in the wealth management sector with an in-depth understanding of multiple underlying areas of specialism (Financial Planning, Discretionary Fund Management, Corporate Finance, etc.).
  • Experience working with financial advisers or investment managers in a regulated environment.
  • Completion of relevant advanced industry qualifications (e.g., CFA, CWM) is strongly preferred.
  • Acknowledgment that attainment of additional industry qualifications may be appropriate as the strategy function and industry itself evolve.
  • Client-focused, principled, and people-oriented.
  • Acts with integrity, fairness, and clarity.
  • Promotes a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
