We’re looking for a driven, relationship‑focused Business Development Manager to join our growing team and play a key role in expanding our presence across the pet sector. You’ll work with both new and existing clients, building long‑term partnerships that deliver real value for them and strong commercial growth for us. You’ll be responsible for managing the full sales cycle, nurturing key accounts, and identifying new opportunities that support our long‑term business strategy. Salary range: £45,000 - £50,000pa + car allowance
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new opportunities that support sustainable growth.
- Build deep product knowledge and help clients understand the value of our services.
- Manage the full sales process from first contact to close to drive client acquisition.
- Develop strong relationships with partners and clients across the pet sector.
- Manage key accounts to strengthen existing relationships and grow commercial business.
- Prepare sales reports analysing customer activity and business performance.
- Analyse the reasons behind profit and loss.
- Follow up on new and existing prospects and report on conversion rates.
- Maintain high standards across all sales negotiations and processes.
- Attend industry events to promote the company’s brands and build visibility.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through virtual and in‑person communication.
- Monitor market trends and competitors and advise leadership on strategic implications.
- Comply with all relevant regulations and codes of conduct.
- Travel across the UK as required for meetings and events.
Requirements
- Proven sales success, ideally within an insurance environment, with strong negotiation skills and the ability to build trust quickly.
- B2B sales experience with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Experience in the pet/animal sector is desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly and translate client needs into practical solutions.
- Confidence in interpreting sales data and presenting insights to senior leadership.
