Brooklands Museum is looking for an ambitious, commercially minded and visitor-focused leader to become our next Head of Commercial. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of one of Britain’s most extraordinary heritage destinations: the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, home of Concorde, and a site that helped to define the spirit of speed, flight and engineering achievement across the twentieth century.
As Head of Commercial, you will lead the implementation of Brooklands Museum’s commercial strategy and annual earned income plan across admissions, retail, online retail, ticketing, venue hire, catering and hospitality, travel trade, groups and premium experiences. This is a hands-on leadership role with real scope and visibility: you will bring together people, systems, data and customer insight to grow income and ensure that every commercial touchpoint – from a first enquiry to a major hospitality event, from a retail purchase to a Concorde experience – feels professional, compelling and worthy of the Brooklands name.
Key Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day commercial delivery across admissions, retail, online retail, ticketing, venue hire, catering and hospitality, travel trade, groups and premium experiences.
- Turn the Museum’s commercial strategy and annual earned income plan into strong sales performance, excellent customer journeys and consistent service standards.
- Lead, coach and develop the Sales and Venue Hire, Admissions and Retail, and Catering and Hospitality teams.
- Use sales data, customer feedback and market insight to monitor performance and identify opportunities and risks.
- Work in close partnership with Operations, Events, Finance, Marketing and Development colleagues to ensure commercial activity is joined up, financially controlled and delivered to a high standard.
- A proven commercial leader with experience of managing multiple income streams such as admissions, retail, catering and hospitality, venue hire or ticketing.
- An experienced team leader who motivates, coaches and develops customer-facing teams.
- Commercially sharp and data-confident, able to turn strategy and targets into practical plans and measurable results.
- A collaborative communicator who balances commercial ambition with operational feasibility, safety, brand integrity and charitable purpose.
- Organised, resilient and solutions-focused; experience in a museum, heritage site, visitor attraction, leisure, hospitality or events environment is desirable.
Brooklands Museum is the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, and the home of Concorde. Located on the 32-acre site of the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit and some of the most productive aircraft factories in Europe in the twentieth century, the Museum welcomes around 180,000 visitors each year, including members of the public, VIPs, corporate hospitality guests and school groups.
For a commercial leader, this is an unusually rich canvas: a powerful heritage brand, distinctive spaces, passionate audiences, high-profile events and significant opportunities to grow earned income in ways that deepen public engagement. Earned income is essential to the Museum’s future – it helps us care for a nationally significant site, welcome more visitors, inspire young people through learning and share the Brooklands story with new audiences.
We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of our audiences and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
