Brooklands Museum is looking to recruit a full-time Assistant Events Manager to continue to push the organisation into pole position and race ahead to deliver and develop our successful, lively and exciting Events Programme at the birthplace of British Motorsport and Aviation. This is a rare and thrilling opportunity to join us as we prepare for one of the most significant events in our history – the Centenary Grand Prix. This landmark celebration will mark 100 years of motorsport at Brooklands and promises to be a truly extraordinary occasion, attracting motorsport enthusiasts, families and supporters from across the country and beyond.
The Assistant Events Manager will play a key role in helping to bring this milestone event to life alongside a wider year-round programme. This role works alongside the Events Manager and our events team to plan and operationally deliver an engaging programme of events throughout the year whilst maximising our event commercial opportunities. The Assistant Events Manager will support the promotion of venue hire activities, proactively seeking out new opportunities with Car Clubs as well as developing and maintaining existing Car Club and Exhibitor Portfolio relationships.
Experience of working in a commercially focused, high-volume fast-paced environment, or working within a visitor attraction, events, customer-facing or hospitality environment, along with previous experience in delivering live or active events would be an advantage. The ideal candidate will possess a positive approach and a ‘can do’ attitude with a willingness to be flexible and ‘get stuck in’ as needed.
Brooklands Museum is a unique and special place to work, where people’s pursuit of speed, flight and adventure changed the world! We are located on a 30-acre site, part of the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit and the most productive aircraft factories in Europe in the twentieth century, and we are also home of British Airways Concorde – Delta Golf. The Museum welcomes over 185,000 visitors each year, made up of members of the public, Brooklands Members, VIPs, corporate hospitality guests and school groups.
We have ambitious plans to fulfil our vision: Inspiring people to shape the future through Brooklands’ history of innovation and endeavour. As a visitor attraction, our priority is delivering a memorable and inspiring experience for all visitors and ensuring we meet our commitment of ‘Brooklands at its best, every day’ – and everyone on the grid has a very important part to play. With the Centenary Grand Prix on the horizon, there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.
As an independent charity, our Events provide a significant financial contribution to allow the continued conservation and preservation of our historic collection. Our Events generate around a third of our annual visitor footfall, attracting a variety of supporters ranging from enthusiasts to family groups, and help promote our Brooklands Members Scheme. The Museum is a fast-paced, exciting environment, and this role will successfully support and deliver our events – including the Centenary Grand Prix – to consistently high standards, maximising visitor enjoyment whilst maintaining health, safety and security for our staff, volunteers and visitors.
