Due to continued demand and growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Cylindrical Grinder to join their established manufacturing team.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate jig grinding machines to produce precision-engineered components
- Grind holes, bores, diameters and complex features to extremely tight tolerances
- Manufacture one-off and small batch components from engineering drawings
- Interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Select and mount appropriate grinding wheels and tooling
- Set machine parameters and offsets to achieve required specifications
- Achieve and maintain tolerances in the micron range where required
- Conduct in-process and final inspection using precision measuring equipment
- Use micrometers, bore gauges, slip gauges, comparators and other inspection equipment
- Ensure components meet customer, drawing and quality requirements
- Identify and resolve machining and grinding issues to maintain quality standards
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Work closely with the inspection and manufacturing teams to meet customer delivery requirements
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Jig Grinder within a precision engineering environment
- Experience setting and operating jig grinding machinery
- Ability to work from complex engineering drawings with minimal supervision
- Experience working to extremely tight tolerances and fine surface finish requirements
- Strong understanding of precision grinding techniques and tooling
- Experience manufacturing high-precision components for aerospace, defence or similar industries
- Competent in the use of precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A methodical and conscientious approach to work
