Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Goods Inward /Driver to join our team at Parker Precision. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt, handling, storage, movement, and dispatch of materials and components to support production requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational performance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing incoming and outgoing goods, maintaining accurate stock records and traceability, supporting production schedules, and ensuring materials are available to meet business demands. Working closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Management teams, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the business and support continuous improvement activities across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, and process incoming materials, components, tooling, and equipment, ensuring quantities, documentation, and condition are accurate.
  • Safely unload, move, store, and issue materials using a Forklift Truck (FLT) and other approved handling equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock movements, deliveries, and dispatches using company systems and documentation.
  • Identify, segregate, and report damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming goods in accordance with company procedures.
  • Pick, inspect, package, and prepare finished products and customer orders for dispatch.
  • Complete shipping documentation, delivery notes, labels, and stock transactions accurately.
  • Coordinate collections and deliveries with approved suppliers, customers, and transport providers.
  • Carry out company driving duties as required, ensuring safe and timely transportation of materials, products, and documentation.
  • Liaise with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Management teams to resolve delivery, stock, and material availability issues.
  • Support production requirements by ensuring materials are available at the point of use when required.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the Goods Inward, Stores, and Dispatch areas.
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities within the department.
  • Promote and uphold company standards of behaviour, safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Goods Inward, Stores, Warehouse, Logistics, or Dispatch role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Valid FLT Licence (Counterbalance essential).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience operating Forklift Trucks safely within a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of stock control, goods receiving, storage, and dispatch processes.
  • Ability to accurately complete documentation and maintain records.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, and traceability.
  • Ability to use initiative and make sound decisions when resolving day-to-day operational issues.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working within a precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP or stock management systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience coordinating customer and supplier deliveries.
  • Understanding of quality documentation and traceability requirements.
  • Additional FLT or warehouse qualifications.
