Due to continued demand and growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Cylindrical Grinder to join their established manufacturing team.
The Role
As a Cylindrical Grinder, you will be responsible for setting and operating cylindrical grinding machinery to produce high-precision components to customer drawings and tight engineering tolerances.
The role would suit an experienced grinder who takes pride in producing quality components and is comfortable working within a precision engineering environment.
You will be working primarily with Jones & Shipman grinding machines, producing components for a variety of technically demanding sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate Jones & Shipman cylindrical grinding machines
- Grind precision components to drawing and specification
- Work to tight engineering tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Select and dress grinding wheels as required
- Set machine parameters and offsets to achieve required component specifications
- Inspect components using appropriate measuring equipment
- Maintain consistent quality throughout production runs
- Identify and rectify issues with components or grinding processes
- Complete production and quality documentation where required
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Work collaboratively with the wider manufacturing team to achieve production and quality targets
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in cylindrical grinding
- Experience setting and operating Jones & Shipman machines would be highly advantageous
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances within a precision engineering environment
- Good knowledge of grinding processes, tooling and inspection techniques
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A reliable and conscientious approach to work
