Group Financial Controller in Wolverhampton

We are seeking a highly capable and driven Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in the financial management and strategic development of our group. This is a senior finance position suited to an ACA-qualified accountant with strong post-qualification experience in industry, ideally within manufacturing and preferably aerospace.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly group consolidation and production of the consolidated monthly reporting pack for senior management and stakeholders.
• Design, develop, and implement a robust financial reporting suite and management tools for the newly acquired subsidiary to enhance visibility and decision-making.
• Ensure accurate and timely group financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and governance.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide rolling forecasts.
• Monitor performance against budget and report variances to senior management.
• Take full responsibility for group cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital optimisation.
• Liaise with banks and financial institutions to maintain strong relationships, including review facilities, covenants, and funding requirements.
• Lead the integration of the finance function of a newly acquired subsidiary into the group structure.
• Establish and produce monthly management accounts for the subsidiary, ensuring alignment with group reporting standards.
• Implement consistent financial processes, controls, and systems across the group.
• Responsibility for Companies House filings and statutory compliance across the group.
• Act as year-end group audit lead, managing external auditors and coordinating audit deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP FRS 102) and regulatory requirements.
• Act as a key finance business partner to senior leadership, providing commercial insight and challenge.
• Support the development of scalable finance processes to support future growth and acquisitions.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function.
• Drive efficiency and automation across the group finance function.

Qualifications

• ACA-qualified accountant.
• Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience – desirable aerospace industry experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting.
• Strong experience in group consolidation and multi-entity reporting.
• Proven track record in cash flow management and working capital control.
• Experience leading year-end audits and managing external stakeholders.
• Strong systems, reporting, and process improvement mindset.
• Commercially astute with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Highly motivated, ambitious, and proactive.
• Strong leadership potential with a desire to progress to Finance Director.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
• Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable in a growing, dynamic environment.
