Job Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, working a 4-day week over a 5-day operational week.

Brookhouse Aerospace is a prominent name within the Aerospace Sector, providing Advanced Composite and Metal Components for Civil & Defense Aerospace applications. We are seeking a talented and experienced Composites Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

As a Composites Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for composite materials used in aerospace applications. You will be responsible for ensuring that our composite components are produced efficiently, cost‑effectively, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires a strong technical background in composite materials, process engineering, and a deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and optimise manufacturing processes for composite materials and components, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to develop and refine composite manufacturing methods, including layup, curing, machining, and bonding processes.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for composite manufacturing, ensuring they meet production and quality requirements.
  • Conduct process trials and validate new manufacturing methods to ensure they meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to composite materials, processes, and equipment.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with AS9100 and other relevant aerospace quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, including work instructions, process specifications, and quality control plans.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in composite materials and manufacturing technologies and integrate new innovations into production processes.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on composite manufacturing processes and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in composite materials manufacturing, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, including carbon fibre, fiberglass, and advanced polymers.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for tooling and fixture design.
  • Experience with composite manufacturing processes such as hand layup, automated fibre placement (AFP), resin transfer moulding (RTM), and autoclave curing.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, including AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA regulations.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
