Brookhaven School is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support SEND pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the instruction and guidance of teaching staff to undertake work, care, and support programmes.
  • Enable pupils to access learning and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
  • Promote a positive ethos and act as a role model for positive attributes.
  • Work effectively within a team environment, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
  • Use good interpersonal, numeracy and literacy skills in day-to-day practice.
  • Apply safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare and safety of children.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistant (or recognised equivalent qualification or experience).
  • Experience of working with children with SEND.
  • Team working skills and understanding of classroom roles.
  • Strong interpersonal, numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

Salary & Working Hours

  • Salary: Grade 4 SCP 13‑16 £25,186–£25,989 (Pay Award Pending). Actual salary £20,766–£21,428.
  • Working hours: 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days INSET.
  • Contract: Permanent.
  • Start date: ASAP.
