Role Overview
Be responsible for all manners of group and regulatory reporting in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment. Lead and manage the Group Reporting finance team delivering quarterly consolidated results for Brookfield listed vehicles in North America and the FCA, as well as providing timely, accurate and relevant financial information to internal stakeholders. Become a key finance team member who is integrally involved in all aspects of group and regulatory reporting, as well as being well positioned to manage and coordinate ad hoc projects for the team as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small team across the London and Mumbai offices. Actively support, motivate and develop these direct reports.
- Full ownership of the quarterly Consolidated European Group Reporting results & submissions for Europe. This includes consolidation & review of periodic results for the multi-entity, multi-currency groups, posting consolidation journals, analysing and presenting accurate and robust results to senior finance members, managing group financial and supplementary information to Toronto.
- Establish strong working relationships with the European based business group finance teams and North American group reporting teams. Become the main point of contact for Brookfield colleagues worldwide for queries regarding Europe Group reporting information.
- Coordinate and lead the consolidated quarterly forecast exercise and annual business planning and budgeting process for European Corporate groups.
- Control month end reporting process for a suite of legal entities. Ensure consistent delivery of a quality product in accordance with the required close deadlines. Review and sign off month end financial reconciliations, ensuring where necessary corrections are both appropriate and made in a timely manner.
- Where appropriate ensure monthly VAT filings are accurate and delivered on time.
- Become the primary finance person assisting with accounting for restructures, acquisitions and other significant transactions within the group. Where required, model steps and funds flows, prepare and review technical papers and update steps as part of a working group identifying gaps and working to resolve them. Communicate financial entries ensuring post-restructure integration and consistency across the group to ensure consolidated results contain accurate reflection of the transaction.
- Assist in the preparation of the semi-annual European regional presentation to Brookfield’s global executives.
- Produce a quarterly consolidated result for a separate UK regulated group. Liaise with relevant group members to obtain and understand their results. Consolidate all financial, cash and capital metric information.
- Assist in the review of financial information of various regulatory returns, ensuring consistency, and timely submission of returns to the FCA.
Skills and Experiences
- 10 years + PQE ACA/ACCA qualified with previous experience operating at similar level
- Previous experience in a group reporting function in industry and commerce, rather than financial services, preparing multi-currency group consolidations
- Must be hands on self-starter willing to roll their sleeves up
- Highly competent in technical accounting (IFRS) and the ability to make determinations on such matters
- FCA regulatory reporting and management of capital/liquidity resources desirable but not necessary
- Keen eye for detail, deadline oriented, good time management and organisational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and a positive approach to problem solving
- Proven track record of successful team management
- Excellent communicator, building meaningful relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders
