The Brookes Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced Senior Support Worker or Senior Carer for a specialist residential care service in Braunton. The service supports adults whose needs arise from physical disabilities and long-term neurological conditions, including acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, dysphagia and learning disabilities. Support is personalised around each individual's needs, wishes and aspirations, with a focus on independence, confidence and community involvement.
The role involves taking responsibility for leading shifts and supporting the wider care team to deliver safe, respectful and person‑centred care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating the staff team during allocated shifts
- Administering medication safely and accurately
- Completing medication records and associated documentation
- Supporting colleagues with care delivery and decision-making
- Providing personal care and practical support where required
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and support plans
- Promoting independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing
- Monitoring individuals and reporting changes or concerns
- Completing accurate daily records and effective handovers
- Supporting new or less‑experienced members of staff
- Responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct
About you:
- Previous experience within care, support work or a similar setting
- Experience leading shifts or taking senior responsibility
- Medication administration experience
- A good understanding of safeguarding and person‑centred care
- Strong communication and record‑keeping skills
- The ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions
- A reliable, compassionate and professional approach
- Flexibility to work according to the service rota
Experience supporting adults with physical disabilities, neurological conditions, learning disabilities or acquired brain injuries would be beneficial.
