The Brookes Recruitment Group is recruiting a Registered Nurse for a specialist nursing service in Abingdon. The service supports adults living with complex dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and associated nursing needs. Care is tailored to each individual, with a strong focus on dignity, wellbeing, safety and independence.

The role

As the Registered Nurse on shift, you will deliver high-quality clinical care while leading and supporting the wider care team throughout the night. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing, planning and reviewing residents’ nursing needs
  • Developing and maintaining personalised care plans
  • Administering and managing medication safely
  • Monitoring residents and responding to changes in their health or behaviour
  • Supporting people with dementia, mental health conditions and learning disabilities
  • Managing complex or challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Leading and supporting care staff during night shifts
  • Completing accurate clinical records and documentation
  • Conducting clear and effective handovers
  • Liaising with families, healthcare professionals and external agencies
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and clinical governance
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies and deteriorating health

About you

You will need:

  • Valid UK NMC registration
  • Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
  • A compassionate and person-centred approach
  • Confidence working with complex needs

  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills
  • A calm and professional approach to challenging situations
  • A commitment to delivering safe and respectful care

Experience within dementia care, mental health, learning disabilities, complex nursing or behaviours that challenge would be beneficial, although nurses from other relevant backgrounds will also be considered.
